Before Clocktown Brewing Co. took root in this historic factory, a piece of American history was founded within these walls. This was once the home of the Seth Thomas Clock Company—founded in 1853 by Seth Thomas himself, a visionary clockmaker whose legacy is woven into the very identity of our town. In fact, Thomaston was named in his honor, a testament to his lasting impact on our community. For nearly two centuries, the company set the standard in timekeeping, crafting clocks that found their way to landmarks around the world—from the iconic Grand Central Terminal Clock in New York City to historic establishments like The Parish of St. John in Neira, Colombia. As America’s longest-standing clock manufacturer, Seth Thomas clocks became more than instruments of time—they became a symbol of precision, craftsmanship, and heritage.

But even the most reliable hands of time eventually slow. The factory closed in 2009, marking the end of an era. Luckily, time has a way of offering new beginnings. In 2020 Clocktown Brewing Co. opened its doors, giving new life to this historic space- symbolizing a new chapter in its legacy. Today, our brewery proudly serves as a gathering place where craft beer, great food, and friendly faces join under the same roof that once kept the world on time.
